On the Linearism of Modern Science

Chinese Metaphysics is sometimes labeled as superstition. The dismissal of this art and science, which is the only complete system of ancient science practised in modern world, is bewildering for Chinese Metaphysicians, academia and researchers alike.

No doubt, the practice is abused by many who view Chinese Metaphysics (and the language it uses) as religions and ‘blind-faith’ cultural practices, or worse – by marketers who tout it as the New Age ‘feel good solution’ for anyone’s life issues.

Modern education is influenced by modern science. It is highly analytical, characterized by high accuracy and strict quantification. Today, it has reached the level of the micro-quantum, things too small for the eye to see. Nanotechnology is a clear representation of the achievements of modern science.
Yet modern science has a fatal weakness: linearism.

Modern science tends to apply a simplified approach to natural phenomena – which contains non-linear dynamics.

The reason why consumers take to Feng Shui easily is because most people know, either by their common sense or by experience, that natural phenomena is by no means linear. Feng Shui appeals to their common sense; after all, there is no fixed order and eternity in natural phenomena, and real life.
